A Dubai stylist’s take on Premiere Classe

For Andrina Goussous, stylist for luxury e-shop Ounass, Premiere Classe has everything it takes to charm Middle Eastern customers, increasingly in tune with a Parisian approach to fashion.

During Fashion Week, word of mouth is often the best information channel. That’s what led Dubai stylist Andrina Goussous to attend Premiere Classe for the first time. And the visit was worth a detour. In charge of styling the middle Eastern luxury e-shop Ounass, she also became its Parisian eyes and ears for a week, spotting new designers and brands that might appeal to the region’s costumers, increasingly in tune with a very French approach to fashion: edgy, diversed and personal.

This is your first time at Premiere Classe. Have you been inspired by what you’ve seen so far?

Yes, there are so many different brands, such a rich selection! It’s very hot in Dubai and in the GCC region, so I’m always trying to think about how pieces can work in this context. A trade show such as this one is very inspiring because I get to go back home with a fresh eye and a fresh take on things.

What can you find in a trade show like this one, happening during fashion week, that you wouldn’t find elsewhere?

I started to attend Fashion Week a few years ago, and I usually go to Milan. I feel a lot of brands here in Paris are very fabric focused. They really invest in the craftsmanship and the quality of how they make things. It’s cool, it’s edgy, it’s chic, you can always tell when a look is a Paris look. I really like that.

Is this type of curation especially appealing to Dubai customers?

It can definitely catch their attention. In Paris, people tend to have their own unique style, whereas Dubai is very trend-focused – if something is trendy, everyone wears it. But people are starting to get more in tune with their own style, as well as with more sustainable products.  So now is a good time to take a look at what Paris has to offer.

What does it take for an accessory to catch your attention?

For me, and I think also for the customer, it’s about quality. Accessories are key to building a wardrobe so they need to last over time, and to have a basic and classic feel. It’s also important that it can be mixed with any seasonal outfit, from summer to winter.

What brands have caught your attention so far?

The most unique brand I’ve seen is Catherine Osti, who makes bow-ties brooches and detachable collars that you can wear over a shirt or under a sweater. She did some for Emily in Paris. I find it super smart because there’s no need for layering, you can just pin your bow like a brooch!

How would you describe Premiere Classe in three words?

Creative, different, and eye-opening!
