Proyecto Republica, a Mexican take on international fashion

Founder Catalina Maurette had a true crush on Premiere Classe and its eclectic, cosmopolitan selection.

At Proyecto Republica, designers are seen as authors. Each piece selected by its founder Catalina Maurette must have its own language and signature, whether in is its shape, its details, or above all its fabric. With three stores in Mexico City, Proyecto Republica has become a reference in Latin America and beyond, with an offer spanning designers from Turkey to Estonia and Peru. At the heart of this global approach, Paris was an obvious destination for buying.

“Mexico City is a cosmopolitan place. Our customers are Mexican but also German, American, Swedish and Korean. Paris is the right place to source fashion that can appeal to all these different cultures at once. And Premiere Classe is by far the best trade show we’ve visited.”

It’s Catalina Maurette’s second visit to Premiere Classe. After attending Bogota and Panama Fashion Weeks, she comes here to complete a highly curated selection, whose aim is to bring a deeper perspective on clothes and accessories than that of major European brands.

“When my customers think about French fashion, they think about big luxury names. My goal is to show them another side of Fashion with up-and-coming designers and names that are more confidential, and international brands that still embody the eclectic aspect of Parisian fashion.”

“Pampa is a Peruvian brand, but I had to come all the way here to learn about it! And I could have mentioned many more labels, I had a crush on the entire trade show. The selection here at Premiere Classe is truly spectacular.”
