20 years of Premiere Classe with Rosa Mosa

Meet the cofounder of the Viennese brand promoting small-scale craftsmanship for over 20 years, in tune with the values of Premiere Classe.

As far as they can remember, Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi have always worked together. Born in Salzburg and Kyoto, they met at fashion school and set the foundations for what would become Rosa Mosa: a brand rooted in the purest craftsmanship tradition.

Born of the minds of an art enthusiast and a Buddhist thinker, the brand is all about balance between form and function, following a basic motto: not too much, not too fast. Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi have never given in to trends, always focusing on intimate creations and slower pace instead.

 From accessories to ready-to-wear

The brand started with shoes, handmade in Italy, then expanded into accessories and has recently launched ready-to-wear. From the texture of a shearling clog to the handmade leather button of the matching jacket, every detail matters and quality always comes first.

“In Vienna, where we are based, fashion is slowly developing” says Simone Springer. “There’s a little avant-garde scene, but the designers who want to work at an international level have to come to Paris.”

She remembers the first time she attended Premiere Classe, over 20 years ago:

“Back then, there was an application process. I actually took a night train with a few samples to present to the team, and took the next train back. It was quite a challenge!”

A sense of community

20 years later, she remains astonished by the diversity of exhibiting designers. “The Premiere Classe team does an incredible job when it comes to sourcing. Every season the selection is different and there are always new buyers.”

For this new session, Simone Springer and Yuji Mizobuchi are focusing on Korea, China and the United States. “Of course, the past few months have been a bit more complicated. But Premiere Classe allows us to maintain and strengthen the very good relations we have with our clients. The advantage of being here is that even when times are more complicated, we are at the heart of things, where we can all help each other, invent new ways of communicating and doing business.”
