Will Artificial Intelligence Reinvent the Jewelry Industry?

The Boghossian family has been part of the jewelry industry for generations, passing down its expertise. Now, Stéphane Boghossian aims to preserve and redefine this legacy through artificial intelligence.

In 2018, Stéphane Boghossian launched ExJewel, a digital platform referred to as "the Shazam of jewelry." The company was successfully acquired, further solidifying Boghossian’s status as a prominent figure at the intersection of jewelry and new technologies. After serving as CMO at Brainboard, a visual tool for cloud infrastructure developers, he is currently a PMM at Lovable.dev, an AI-powered software engineering platform.

Jewelry and Artificial Intelligence: Key Takeaways

"The AI market is projected to reach $1.9 billion by 2026," says Stéphane Boghossian. "Eighty-five percent of luxury companies believe AI will transform the industry, and sixty-two percent of jewelry retailers think it will have a significant impact." Beneath these figures lies his belief that the future of luxury will evolve alongside AI.

"Artificial intelligence functions similarly to our brains—it’s about creativity and efficiency," he explains. "AI can’t do everything for you; you must be precise in the instructions you provide. The best results stem from the best input." He illustrates this with his own AI assistant, which reads his important emails, summarizes them, and can even respond on his behalf.

During his presentation, he showed how AI can not only create a fully functional e-commerce site in just a few clicks but also generate a project pitch and design new jewelry shapes. "With AI, you can come up with an idea, conceptualize it, create a photoshoot, and launch a website," says Boghossian. Does this mean future entrepreneurs could do without creatives? "AI won’t replace humans… unless humans start using AI now."

However, he also acknowledges AI’s current limitations, such as poor image quality and environmental concerns. One thing is certain: for Stéphane Boghossian, the industry's future is inseparable from artificial intelligence.
