We caught up with Maya Chawla, Wholesale and Partnerships Manager, at the Salon to hear what caught her eye, who she met and what she discovered along the way.
Tell us about Edie Parker and what makes it unique.
We like to say that we’re “for a good time”, so the pieces are fun but beautiful, and everything is centred around that idea. Whether it’s accessories for entertaining at home or bags to wear out, that’s really the core of the brand.
Did you meet any interesting buyers?
Yes. It was a really international crowd, which was particularly interesting for us as a US-based brand that hasn’t expanded into Europe as much as we’d like to. We met a mix of buyers, from specialty stores to major retailers. Galeries Lafayette was here, and their jewellery buyer was really interested in what we had. We also spoke with Rue Blanche, a store in Belgium. There was an event planner from Chanel who was really nice. I also discovered Maison Balzac, an Australian brand that also does resale. They make colourful, fun glassware that feels very Edie Parker.
Did you meet any other exhibitors or discover brands that stood out to you?
I was stationed across from The Creative Traveller, and I loved meeting the founder. The brand is so fun and creative. There are a ton of really cool design brands here, from homeware and tableware to glassware. Patchou, from India, was one that stood out to me. I really love their stuff. There was so much to discover at the salon!
What stood out to you about your experience at Shoppe Object Paris?
The whole event was beautiful and very well produced. Even the immersive entrance display made an impression. The range of brands was great, and the setup, food and drinks all felt really well orchestrated. I also really appreciated how responsive and helpful everyone was. And for us, the access to buyers was probably the biggest thing. It was exciting to meet such an international crowd and connect with buyers from different markets.
