Stacked Store, from Singapore to Paris

For Adriano Tawin, co-founder, and Anthea Han, Head of Buying at Stacked, Paris is about discovering new names, good design, and places worth seeking out. Based in Singapore, the multi-label home and decor store recently opened its first retail space alongside its online store, with a focus on making good design accessible.

On their first day in Paris, they stopped by Shoppe Object Paris, where we met up with them to hear what caught their eye.

Tell us about your store and what makes it unique.

We’re a multi-label home and decor store based in Singapore, with an online store and a recently opened retail space. What makes us unique is our careful curation. We believe in bringing good design to people who are interested in it and making it accessible. We’re also active on social media. We create videos about the brands we carry, and sometimes they go viral, which gives those brands more recognition.

How would you describe the personality of your city?

Singapore is very clean and very sunny, and it’s vibrant in its own way. There’s a lot of culture, and it’s a melting pot, a bit like Paris. You can see that energy in what people are looking for, whether it’s design or food.

What’s your favourite place to go when you come to Paris?

It was actually our first day in Paris! We started with croissants for breakfast and a really nice cup of hot chocolate, then came straight to Shoppe Object Paris. It’s been a nice place to land. We also wanted to discover more local brands and concept stores, and hopefully visit a few museums. There are so many good ones to choose from.

What caught your eye at Shoppe Object Paris?

We saw quite a few interesting brands across different categories, from home decor to fragrance and fabrics. We also discovered some we didn’t know before, which was exciting. Eddie Parker from New York stood out, especially the fun lighters. They felt like something we hadn’t seen before. We also liked Solar Eclipse, including the hand-painted pill cases and the mahjong set. A Week Abroad was another highlight. We thought the concept was really strong, especially the fact that the founder took the photography herself and spoke to locals to get recommendations. We also enjoyed discovering Artist of the Season Phoebe Stone and her work. Her booth was beautiful, and we found the artwork particularly interesting.

What would bring you back to Shoppe Object Paris?

When we first walked into Who's Next, it was very impressive. Despite the scale of the overall salon, it was well organised and easy to walk through. Shoppe Object Paris felt very human, with enough space to discover the different brands and exhibitions. Being able to see products in person is really important to us. When we see something online, we try to picture it, but it’s not always the same. In person, we can speak to founders or brand representatives, hear the story behind a brand and what inspired each product. It helps us better understand the products we choose for our customers. It’s also exciting to discover new brands early on, meet them at that stage and follow their journey as they develop.
